MADE IN THE SHADE.Colorful coffee beans destined to be sun-dried in the streets of Las Terrazas and to end up in the cups of tourists are grown in the shade of carob trees. The area surrounding Las Terrazas was completely deforested half a century ago. Then 35 years ago, the Cuban government began the process of planting new trees, under which now grows the cash crop of coffee.
